Mexico. The Mexican cement company Cemex reported a growth in its level of profits of 50% during the second quarter of 2015. According to the company, its net profit reached US$114 million, the highest figure presented by the company in six years. The above, as they explain, is due to a program of efficiency and lower financial expense that allowed them to compensate for a fall in their level of sales.
The cement company highlighted that during the period from April to June of last year the profits were US $ 76 million. Other figures published by Cemex show that revenues fell by 8%, standing at US$3,839 million, but despite the above, its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) grew by 1%, reaching US$744 million dollars.
"Our net income from controlling interest during the quarter was the highest in six years. In addition, EBITDA increased by 13% on a like-for-like basis. This is the third quarter with double-digit growth in our EBITDA, in comparable terms," said Fernando González, CEO of Cemex.
