International. The Valdepeñas Hospital adds to energy efficiency. The regional government has invested € 259,000 to carry out a series of modernization works of the facilities and hospitalization stays in order to make them more efficient and comfortable.
Of this amount, the center has invested € $ 169,000 in the installation of forty solar panels on the roof of the center for the production of hot water. It is estimated that the energy generated by the plates will reduce the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere by 60%.
The installation of solar panels is being carried out on a catchment area of 100 square meters that will heat the water of the tanks. The director of Management of the Integrated Area of Valdepeñas, Damián Aranda explained that "the consumption of hot water may be generated exclusively with renewable energy for more than five months a year". According to estimates, the energy generated by solar panels will exceed 70,000 kW / h next year, which will imply a saving of CO2 emissions of 16.7 tons.
Through this investment, which comes from ERDF funds of the European Union, the second phase of the energy efficiency improvement plan that involved last year the replacement of two air conditioning boilers and A.C.S, the burners and the control system begins.
