The National Board of Directors of the Hotel and Tourism Association of Colombia (Cotelco), appointed María Claudia García Gómez as National President of the guild.
The new president will take office on August 14 with the commitment to strengthen the Association, continue with the processes of internationalization and market opening, as well as renew the academic portfolio that Cotelco has.
His experience of more than 20 years in the public and private sector, as well as his trade union knowledge, will allow him to lead the new processes of the guild successfully.
Dr. María Claudia is a systems and computer engineer from the Universidad de los Andes and holds a master's degree in Public Administration from Harvard University.
He was president of the Association of Pharmaceutical Research Laboratories and the Colombian Association of Hospitals and Clinics. He worked in the consulting firm KPMG and western Colombia; she has been an advisor to public entities such as the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, the Fund for reconstruction and social development of the Coffee Axis, among others.
She served as Secretary General of the National Planning Department, Director of Information and Systems of Proexport Colombia and Head of Systems of the Ministry of the Environment.
"We will continue with the processes of strengthening the country's hotel and tourism industry, as well as working to carry out the goals of Cotelco's strategic plan, strengthen the area of education and continue with good relations with the National Government and unions in the sector," said María Claudia García Gómez, president of Cotelco.
