Colombia. For the first time in Colombia, the Cigsa 2019 International Summit on Horizontal Property Management and Administration was held on November 19 and 20 at the Compensar Auditorium in Bogotá, with the presence of eight international experts in the real estate management industry, with the attendance of more than 700 people in the two days of the event.
One of the main conclusions of the meeting is the importance of taking into account the human factor to achieve an excellent coexistence between neighbors, added to the need to professionalize the important work carried out by horizontal property managers in Colombia, in a similar way to other countries in the world, as stated by Jeevan J. D'Mello, one of the main guest exhibitors and manager of the Burj Khalifa building, the tallest tower in the world located in Dubai.
It should be noted that the administration of buildings or condominiums in Colombia is a trade that can be exercised without professional qualification, it is enough to take a training course and know in detail the Law 675 of 2001 of Horizontal Property. However, the responsibility of a horizontal property manager is high, if it is taken into account that an administrator can be responsible for the management of more than USD 300,000 per year.
For Luis Eduardo García, general manager of Inmobiliaria Valenzuela & Cía., one of the organizers of the Cigsa Summit, he says that he could not understand "how having so many building managers in Bogotá, but there was no event" that brought them together, and comments that he took the idea of similar regional meetings in the cities of Cali and Barranquilla.
"We worked to make our allies fall in love with Cigsa, and we are pleasantly surprised by such a great reception, we have also received very positive comments," he points out, adding that the doors are open for the realization of the second edition of the Summit in 2021.
