Hotels.com reveals the most mysterious hotels where you can spend a terrifying Haloween...
Halloween night is celebrated virtually all over the world, remembering the spirits and the afterlife, on a date when the line between one world and the other becomes thinner for once a year. In Spain, this celebration of American origin joins the traditional day of the dead. Therefore, the weekend of Friday, October 31 to Sunday, November 2 promises to offer two nights full of mystery. Hotels.com, the most visited hotel booking website in the world*, offers you to spend these two nights in an "enchanted" hotel. Do you dare?
The Ghosts of an Ancient Ship The Queen Mary is a three-star hotel that represents a historical relic of the great passenger ships that sailed the world's oceans. One of the peculiarities of this ship is the tour of "Ghosts and legends", with an interesting thematic show about ghosts. The ship is subject to the effects of invisible forces that, from time to time, are presented to its visitors and employees in different parts of the ship. Many legends circulate about the ship, such as the existence of ghosts of guests who died on it. They say that one of the rooms, the B340, had to stop being offered to customers because of the mysterious apparitions. They also say that the kitchen is enchanted by a cook who was baked to death during World War II by soldiers who did not like their food. Some 50 people are believed to have died in total on board, in addition to 1,500 people who lost their lives on the April 15, 1912 voyage. From 58** euros per room per night booking in Hotels.com
Wandering spirit for lost loves The Brown Palace Hotel & Spa, in Denver, is a four-star hotel with 241 rooms decorated in colonial style, transporting you to another era. The hotel opened its doors in 1892 and, after more than a century of history, has generated various legends about ghosts. It offers 45-minute historical tours twice a week, led by the hotel historian, and a special halloween tour. This tour tells the tragic story of the high society lady Louise Crawford Hill, who according to legend lived in room 904 of the hotel for 15 years and suffered several love disappointments and lost loves, dying without knowing the happiness in love. When the historian tells his legend, the switchboard receives calls from room 904 even without having a telephone, these mysterious calls do not cease until the story ends. The house of crime, real fact turned into legend The Ayala Berganza hotel in Segovia is a Castilian palace of the late fifteenth century converted into a three-star hotel and with the category of Historical-Artistic Monument. Its beauty contrasts with the tragic history behind the building, which has not in vain earned the nickname "the house of crime" by the neighbors of the area. In 1892, three bandits robbed the house of Alexander "the Frenchman", murdering him vilely and cruelly, his maid and the cat. The crimes, of great violence, had a great impact on the newspapers and the three murderers were executed in 1894. After what happened, the house of the crime was completely closed and abandoned until in 1902 the painter Zuloaga rented the property with his friend Ramón Uranga to install his workshop. Legend has it that Ramón Uranga, when he first opened the door of the house after so many years closed after the crimes, saw in the basement of the building a coven of toothless old women who implored Satan with candles in his hand that vanished shortly after by the chimney. Zuloaga, inspired by the vision of his friend, he painted in 1907 the heartbreaking picture of "The Witches of San Millán". Today, the building has been converted into this beautiful hotel, although they say that cries and screams are still heard some nights. From 72** euros per room per night booking in Hotels.com.
