Broward County in Fort Lauderdale, Fl, awarded Valley Forge Fabrics one of its 2008 Emerald Awards in the categories of green products and practices. The award, created by the Board of Commissioners and the Department of Environmental Protection, recognizes companies that excel in environmental protection. The producer of decorative fabrics for the hospitality industry created an internal environmental management and product offering system called Fresh (Fabrics that redefine environmental standards for the hospitality industry).
These products are made entirely of post-consumer recycled polyester, from plastic bottles. Other products include an award-winning fiber from eucalyptus with a cotton bedding product. In addition, it is the only textile firm with an established program of recovery of disused fabrics. With it, Valley Forge will save millions of pounds of waste to landfills each year, according to a statement.
