Mexicó announced that it will create a 30-year plan to build a new spa called Ciudad Mujeres with more than 50,000 hotel rooms and thousands of homes that seeks to compete with the already established Cancun. The new resort will have 15,500 hectares of land that are located 25 kilometers north of Cancun.
The mayor of Isla Mujeres, Alicia Ricalde, said that the initial investment will be about US$60 million by the federal government and that then the phase of private investments will enter.
