With 604,051 rooms, the Aztec country ranks second in hotel supply in Latin America after Spain, which has 811,000, due to the construction of 20,320 rooms throughout Mexico in 2008.According to the study "The lodging industry-2008", presented by the National Tourism Confederation (CNT), Quintana Roo is the state with the largest hotel infrastructure in the country, with 76,305 rooms and 163 five-star hotels. It is followed by Jalisco with 55,096 quarters, the Federal District with 48,776, Veracruz ranks fourth with 35,961 and Guerrero the fifth with 29,342.
The Mexican hospitality industry has 15,800 establishments that generate direct employment for 369,000 people.
According to the study, last year, 105 five-star hotels were erected with a total of 4,528 rooms, and an average of 43 rooms per establishment.
