Spa zoneThe term "massage" is defined in aesthetics and cosmetology as the operation consisting of pressing, rubbing or hitting rhythmically and with adequate intensity certain regions of the body, mainly muscle masses, for aesthetic or therapeutic purposes.
This word comes from the French word "masser", in reference to a series of manipulations similar to kneading. Other languages have similar words: the Arabic word "mass", to touch gently; the Greek "massein", kneading; or the Hebrew "masech", palpate; for all civilizations have practiced massage techniques and have benefited from their effects.
There are different ways to classify massages, although in general, the following are usually distinguished: traditional, lymphatic, energetic (or oriental), reflex, circulatory, relaxing, stimulating, reducing, sports, children, self-massage and some others with specific techniques that fall within any of the previous classifications.
