Two Peruvian hotels and a luxury train were announced winners in their respective categories of the Reader's Travel Awards of the British magazine Condé Nast Traveller, after having been chosen through a series of surveys conducted to the readers of the publication, who evaluated the location, decoration, service, gastronomy and environmental awareness.Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge, established next to the Inca Citadel, ranked 8th among the best hotels in America and the Caribbean, and the Monasterio Hotel with its decoration and colonial architecture obtained the 20th place, being the only establishments selected in this country. In turn, the Hiram Bingham train operated by PeruRail, was chosen among the best trains in the world for its excellent service, in 7th place.
The three winners belong to the Orient-Express Hotels Ltd. group, owner of 35 hotels operating in 25 countries and among them are the Miraflores Park Hotel in Lima, the Monasterio Hotel, The Sacred River Hotel and Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge in Cusco and Las Casitas del Colca in Arequipa. The company also co-owns PeruRail which operates the Cusco-Machu Picchu train service, which is used by almost every tourist who travels to Peru.
