Lonely Planet, the most trusted travel information company, has joined forces with two of the world's leading accommodation providers, Expedia and Hostelworld.com, to offer a unique accommodation booking service.
The new service provides travelers with tens of thousands of author reviews and recommendations written by 360 Lonely Planet authors around the world. From budget hostels in Adelaide to designer boutique hotels in Zurich, travellers can evaluate facilities and book online safely on Expedia and Hostelworld.com.
"Combining Lonely Planet's vast number of author reviews of accommodations with the deep inventory provided by Expedia and Hostelworld is a real triumph for our travelers. They get trusted advice, a competitive price and a wide range of website that is easy to use," explains Troy Suda, Global Head of Hotels and Emerging Business online at Lonely Planet.
For the new service, Lonely Planet looked globally for partners where there was a strong match between lonely Planet authors' reviews and available properties from potential partners.
"Lonely Planet has built its business on the quality of its author reviews and recommendations and we are thrilled to partner with such a renowned company in its field as Expedia," said Tamer Tamar, vice president and chief management officer of Expedia Distribution.
"Partnering with a company like Lonely Planet amply demonstrates Expedia's expertise in white labels and a commitment to growing the partner base we work with in travel. We have developed an offer tailored to Lonely Planet that perfectly matches its style with the needs of its users who use our world-class hotel product," said Tamar.
The authors of Lonely Planet travel the world writing recommendations on accommodation options that meet the needs of all travelers, hence two partners were selected to offer booking properties across a wide range of destinations and accommodations.
Feargal Mooney, CEO of Hostelworld.com added, "Our hostel coverage is the largest in the world. This agreement builds on the long-standing relationship between Hostelworld.com and Lonely Planet and allows us to take advantage of independent and authentic reviews from the world's most experienced and reliable travel writers.
