According to a study developed by the independent consulting company, TNS, called "Vacation Trends in the United States in 2011," what travelers miss most when leaving home and settling into a hotel is their own bed.
The survey of 1,000 vacationers indicated that 57% of respondents agreed that they miss their bed when they are on vacation, 13% said they need their TV or entertainment systems in the rooms and less than 9% revealed that they miss their living rooms or sofas.
For Brian Povinelli, head of global brand at Westin Hotels, which according to the study is one of the hotel brands that tries to create an experience around a hotel bed, "64% of guests expect to have a good night's rest, which means that a good bed is what travelers expect today."
According to the Travel Attitudes Survey, participants chose the mattress as the item they would most like to buy from a hotel room (20%). We're still focused on bed and focused on ways to improve the sleep experience. 6% of women said that it is important to have a salon for yoga or pilates.
According to the same survey, after walking outdoors, women and men prefer gym machines, while 8% of men say they use weights as an important amenity.
