About US $1.8 billion will be the revenues collected in 2011 from fees in hotels in the United States, thus corroborating that this modality of charging for service is becoming an increasingly important alternative to increase the profitability of hotels.
The above figure was released by a study conducted at the Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management of New York University, who also revealed that for ten years there has been a progressive increase in the level of income in this field.
In that sense, it is important to note that in 2010 the profits obtained were US $ 1,700 million, while compared to 2001 there is an increase of 80%, going from US $ 1,000 million on that occasion to US $ 1,800 this year.
Charges for internet use, laundry, parking, late chek-in or use of recreational areas are the norm today in almost all hotel establishments; the above, added to an increase in occupancy, as well as the emergence of new charges or an increase in existing ones, have led to a significant increase in the amount of money raised by fees, explains the report.
