Due to the influx of tourists that Brazil will receive in the coming years due to the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games, the Brazilian Institute of Tourism, Embratur, will monitor hotel rates in ten cities in the country.
The objective of the institute is to compare the figures with ten cities abroad, to improve quality standards and avoid the excessive increase in prices.
The so-called International Hotel Price Research -PPH-, was signed by the head of Embratur, Flavio Dino, who said that the next sporting events to be held in the country "will give a visibility so far unique in its history to Brazilians."
Likewise, thanks to the Law on Access to Information, the data obtained from the investigation will be available to any citizen who requests them. In addition, every six months Emabratur will organize a Competitiveness Forum to analyze the information obtained with the competent entities.
Belén, Belo Horizonte, Brasilía, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janerio, Salvador and São Paulo, will be the cities studied. The next step is to analyze the price of air tickets, although no dates have been set for that investigation.
