Discos, restaurants, gyms, hotels, supermarkets, offices and factories located in the district of Miraflores, Lima, modified their environments with the aim of reducing noise pollution and reaching below the limits set according to ordinance 364.
In total there were 28 commercial establishments that made changes in their premises, adaptations such as installing plasterboard and fiberglass on the walls, in the sound equipment they located anti-vibration supports, among other measures.
During the municipal inspections carried out by the municipal device on the Regime for the Prevention and Control of Noise Pollution and Vibrations in Miraflores, electromechanical equipment such as devices, machines and motors were evaluated; air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration systems were also checked.
At the end of the evaluation, a report was delivered with the indications corresponding to the corrective measures that had to be implemented in each commercial premises.
This entity aims to regulate, prevent and control all activities that cause pollution by noise or vibration that affect the population or the environment.
After the recommended modifications were implemented, the sound measurements were made again and it could be verified that a total of 28 establishments complied with the noise system, while another 31 are in the process of complying with this measure.
Ordinance No. 364-MM establishes that in the Special Protection Zone (health establishments, educational and cultural centers, nursing homes and orphanages) a maximum of 50 decibels during daylight hours and 40 decibels during the night is allowed. On the other hand, in the residential area they cannot exceed 60 decibles in the day and 50 decibles at night. And in the commercial area the authorized limit is 70 decibels during the day and 60 decibels during the night.
For non-compliance with these regulations, exemplary economic sanctions are applied.
