Panama. The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) announced that its expansion program currently registers an overall advance of 78%. Similarly, the entity revealed that the design and construction project of the new locks, in charge of the company GUPC, is in a 73% execution.
In addition to the above, the Canal Authority and the consortium in charge of the project recently signed the definitive agreement that will allow the completion of the work in December 2015, according to the international news agency EFE.
The ACP said in a statement that what was signed this Friday is the variation to the contract that formalizes the agreements reached last March to complete the works of the project of the third set of locks. "Now what remains is to continue working with the commitment to take to its completion a work that is already 78% advanced," said the administrator of the ACP, Jorge Luis Quijano, according to the statement.
The GUPC, for its part, issued a statement in which it stated that "GUPC will do everything on its part so that the collaboration with the ACP is fruitful and successfully leads to the completion of the works in the foreseen time."
