Panama. Last week, Facility Management Week was held in Panama. Nearly 100 professionals participated in the first event specialized in Facility Management in Panama, where they were able to share experiences and best practices. The presence of real estate managers from the hotel, banking, real estate, telecommunications sectors, among other sectors, demonstrated the importance of discipline in a transversal way.
In addition, the event was attended by representatives of the public sector, so it served to activate awareness of the need for comprehensive and effective management of real estate and its services in one of the sectors where the barriers to implement new procedures are stronger.
Fm Week began with a visit to the Trump Hotel guided by the hotel's Director of Facilities, who organized a tour for the participants during which he explained how the hotel is managed and maintained.
During the days of the event, numerous presentations and training sessions focused on various topics of the sector took place. Among them the presentation of the Administrator of the Global Directory of ISO in Panama DGNTI, who spoke about the ISO standard, explaining its content and its derivations in the administration of facilities and the Executive Director of the Green Building Council Panama who gave a talk on the impact of sustainable construction and its relationship with Facility Management.
A round table was also held with real estate managers from different sectors such as the Manager of Acquired Assets of Banvivienda, the Head of Patrimonial Assets of the Tourism Authority of Panama and the Head of Services of Veneto Hotel & Casino, who gave their expert opinion and talked about the state of Facility Management in the country.
Finally, La Semana del FM ended with training sessions by David Martínez, Global Director of FMHOUSE, aimed at those who wanted to know more about the main concepts of Facility Management.
As happened in La Semana Del Facility Management in Colombia, this event was the impetus that professionals needed to create the local Facility Management association. Twenty volunteers showed up to start with this work that can contribute so much to the sector in the country.
