International. Three new standards focused on energy management were recently published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) with the aim of helping companies improve their energy performance. As always, the implementation of these recommendations is voluntary but can be used as a tool for improvement by all types of companies.
The first of three new standards published is ISO 50004:2014 Energy Management Systems - Guide to the implementation, maintenance and improvement of an energy management system, which provides practical guidance for achieving performance improvements in this area.
The above guide follows the systematic approach set out in ISO 50001 and is applicable to any organization, regardless of its size, type, location or level of maturity.
In second place we find the ISO 50006:2014 Energy management systems - Measurement of energy performance using energy baselines and energy performance indicators.
Finally, ISO 50015:2014 Energy Management Systems – Measurement and Verification of Energy Efficiency in Organizations General Principles and Guidance, focuses on a fundamental area to demonstrate the effectiveness of an energy efficiency program: measurement.
