Mexico. For the year 2015 it is estimated that the construction industry will present a growth of 4% compared to the previous year, according to a report published by the consulting company Bimsa Reports. This growth will be leveraged mainly by an increase in housing construction and heavy investment in public infrastructure.
Ricardo Trejo, chief economist of the company, said in a press conference for local media that "the expectation is that the housing industry continues to recover very strongly and the infrastructure continues to grow more from the second half of the year, so that in the end it closes in a scenario let's say stable or conservative."
For his part, the president of Bimsa, César Ortega de la Roquette, stressed that after 24 months of decline, the outlook for the Mexican construction industry is more than encouraging and expects positive results for builders in 2015.
Of course, these predictions are subject to revision due to changes in the global economic climate, but bimsa Reports spokespersons believe that as long as government investment remains at current levels, the construction field will rebound during this year.
