International. The company ID Domótica was in charge of equipping two important buildings in Madrid, Spain, the facilities of ICEX (Spain Export and Investments) and the headquarters of the VIPS group, with a lighting control system under KNX standard.
According to information published by the specialized portal Casadomo, the project began in 2014 and consisted of a complete lighting control system, through which it is possible to execute percentages of lighting intensity depending on the available luminosity as well as time schedules and centralized control of all the ignitions, which is done through the luminosity sensors, which have been calibrated to provide a constant plane of illumination and thus avoid greater electricity consumption.
This implies, for example, that the functions of the system include the modification of the intensity of the lighting depending on the weather conditions (cloudy or sunny) and automatic switching off of lights at the end of working hours. In total, both buildings needed 600 luminosity sensors for the operation of the system.
According to information provided by the company in charge of the project, after several months of operation the buildings have achieved 25% energy savings thanks to lighting control.
