International
. The possibility of guaranteeing that a construction has the same processes and quality standards regardless of where in the world it is being developed, is a latent need for professionals in the construction industry who want to expand beyond their borders.
With this goal in mind, 30 professional organizations from around the world gathered in Washington under the name of the International Coalition for Measurement Standards in Construction (ICMS) with the aim of promoting an initiative that unifies on a global scale the costs, classifications and definitions existing in this industry, in order to ensure that an accurate comparative evaluation can be made between all kinds of projects.
Amanda Clack, vice president of the British organization RICS, noted that "the fact that so many international organizations met in Washington shows that there is a strong desire to develop a unique standard for measurement in the construction industry."
"During the meeting it was evident that there was a real willingness to work collaboratively for the benefit of the public and our customers. It is about bringing something new and I am convinced that we will all look at this meeting as a historic moment for the creation of a better industry for the future: standards work and the construction sector needs them."
