. The famous Swedish company Ikea revealed that by 2020 it expects to produce 100% of the energy consumption of its stores in Spain through renewable energies, for which they will allocate an investment of 600 million euros (US $ 682 million, approximately) as stated by Tolga Öncü, president of the company.
Öncü also announced that since 2010 the company has been making an important effort to improve its environmental impact and so far they have achieved an increase in their energy efficiency of 23%.
One of the main initiatives implemented by the company to achieve this is the installation of more than 25,000 solar panels in its stores in Seville, Malaga and Jerez, among others.
Thanks to the investment of 15 million euros made in this solar installation, Ikea currently produces 19% of its energy consumption in the Iberian country. However, in its stores in countries such as Poland, Canada and the Nordic countries, the company already generates 100% of what it consumes.
