After one year of launching its sustainable development program called Planet 21, the international hotel chain Accor announced the launch of an innovative monitoring system that allows to verify the level of sustainable development of its hotels.
The program allows to categorize the levels into four segments according to their performance: bronze, silver, gold and platinum. This year of application 60% of the hotels reached the necessary requirements for the bronze level and 31% are certified as sustainable hotels.
As explained by the company, today guests are very concerned with the issue of sustainability and eco-friendly practices, which is why this program was implemented and has left customers quite satisfied.
Among the actions practiced by Accor is the PLANET 21 Program that monitors water and energy consumption, use of eco-friendly cleaning products, water flow regulators and low-consumption lamps, offer of balanced food and actions to combat sexual violence against children and adolescents.
With the program launched a year ago, the chain set itself a series of ambitious objectives with a deadline for 2015, structured in seven fundamental bases: health, nature, carbon, innovation, local development, employment and dialogue, and 21 commitments.
