The Aloft Bogotá Airport Hotel joins the new global program Make a Green choice, of the North American chain Starwood to take care of the environment.
It is an initiative in which the guest decides if he wants to contribute to reducing the pollution of the planet through the voluntary choice, so that his room is not cleaned, nor has a change of sheets during the days of his stay.
This program, which has been incorporated by more than 1000 hotels of the brand worldwide, allows users to participate in an environmental policy focused on the responsible management of six areas of opportunity: Water, Energy, Indoor Environmental Quality (CAI), Waste, Emissions and Supply Chain.
For the benefit, the Aloft brand offers them the possibility of earning 125 points per day, cumulative to the SPG account, or if the guest prefers it, they are given 5 dollars of consumption to use them in the bar or in the re: fuel (restaurant-self-service).
The guest who wants to participate in this environmentally friendly practice, can make the respective registration at the time of Check In or during their stay. Once you agree to participate in the program, you will be enrolled, so that those in charge of cleaning will limit their work to only collect the garbage and provide the necessary cleaning elements for your stay.
With guests' adherence to the program, drinking water consumption is reduced, as is natural gas and other fossil fuels used. Decreasing wastewater discharge decreases the introduction of pollutants into ecosystems.
This novel initiative, which has achieved positive reactions among Aloft guests, stems from Starwood's announcement to reduce energy consumption by 30%, and 20% in water consumption, per room in all owned, managed and franchised hotels by 2020.
