A total of 34,500 buildings have been submitted since last June to obtain the new registration of energy certifications in the Community of Madrid. The figure is encouraging until it is revealed that of those, 80% have obtained a rating lower than E, taking into account that A is the rating given to the most efficient properties and G to the least efficient.
Madrid is just one example of the total universe of buildings in the global context that aspire to this type of certification.
Of that generous figure of almost 35,000 buildings, only 4.5% correspond to offices, 1.7% to commercial premises, the rest to housing and other uses. Thus, 0.2% have obtained an A grade, 0.8% have achieved a B grade and 4% C grade, the remaining percentage is between C and G grades.
It should be remembered that this energy certification offers information about the savings in energy consumption that the property can achieve in its daily operation and, with it, the return on investment.
When analyzing the figures it is clear that there is still a lot of work to be done around the construction of sustainable and sustainable buildings, there is a task of awareness and awareness of the importance of saving energy and protecting the environment.
In the case of the Community of Madrid, there are the Renove Plans, implemented since 2006 and with which more than 680,000 renovations of elements that improve energy consumption have been achieved, such as windows, boilers, elevators, air conditioning equipment, appliances, among others.
As explained by the general director of Industry, Energy and Mines, Carlos López, it is mandatory that all homes or premises that are sold or rented must have such a certificate, this is mandatory since June 1. This regulation is required in order for buyers to know the energy characteristics of the building and know the needs for improvement of the same and operating costs.
