The Superintendecia de Sociedades of Colombia recently delivered a report in which it reveals the good economic moment that the hotel industry is going through in that country.
In the last year, the sector showed positive results in its operating income, net income and business assets.
According to reports, the sum of the hotels' operating income reached $3.4 billion during 2009; for 2010 this figure rose to $3.8 billion and in 2011, the amount raised was $4.3 billion.
The hotel groups with the best results in this area were Decameron of Colombia with $127,051 million; Estelar Hotels, with $100,366 and Nova Mar Development with $48,603 million.
According to the entrepreneurs of the segment such as John Fredy Barragán, of Asotelca, this good moment has to do with the realization of cultural, artistic and political events that have been held in recent times in the country and that are taken advantage of by the sector.
For the businessman "there is still a need for more management by the National Government on specific issues such as the airport tax, which is directly related to the growth of hotel activity."
In 2010, as reported by the Supersociedades, the sector's net profits were $109,641 million, an increase of 11.2% over 2009.
