The Fire Department of El Salvador recently announced the implementation of the General Plan for Fire Prevention, Risk Mitigation and Accidents called "Human Protection 2013". The objective is to evaluate the conditions experienced by the different economic and social sectors of the country in what has to do with the issue of risk.
The Fire Director, Abner Hurtado explained that "the objective of the plan is to prevent the possibilities of fires and accidents occurring in the different buildings of the country and with it, issue the pertinent recommendations so that the observations indicated can be overcome."
Likewise, Hurtado said, the goal is to carry out a total of 150 inspections in buildings that are considered as cultural heritage of the country, review 1,500 hydrants throughout the nation, analyze the security measures that have been adopted in 127 municipal markets, verify compliance with measures in 400 CDI, CBI Kindergarten and educational centers; in addition to inspecting 50 nightclubs of fun and shows nationwide and 125 hotels and restaurants in the country will be inspected.
The general plan will be executed in 5 phases, the first being socialization and coordination with the institutions involved; the second will begin on 21 January with the inspection of the buildings declared cultural heritage and the hydrant network; on March 18, the third phase begins with the inspection of the municipal markets, the fourth consists of verifying the CDI, CBI, Kindergarten and schools; the last phase begins on September 2 with nightclubs, hotels and restaurants.
