The Chinese hotel chain Mandarin Oriental announced that it will build a luxurious 130-room hotel and a residential complex in Playa Manzanillo, in the North Pacific of Costa Rica, which will be completed in 2009.The project will be located about 25 minutes from the Daniel Oduber International Airport, located in Liberia, province of Guanacaste, about 220 kilometers west of San José. The hotel will allow its guests to have "spectacular views" of the Gulf of Papagayo and the tropical forest, and will also have a golf course, a spa, swimming pools, three restaurants, three bars and a conference room, gyms, among other facilities. Mandarin Oriental, based in Hong Kong, currently operates in 21 countries with 16 hotels in Asia, 13 in the Americas and seven in Europe and Africa, some of them still under construction.
