The IHG hotel group announced that it has plans to develop two new Holiday Inn hotels in Central America, which will be the first two of seven ventures that the firm has planned to be built in the region, through a development agreement with the hotel division of grupo Agrisal, of San Salvador, El Salvador.The first two hotels to be developed include a six-story Holiday Inn in San Jose, Costa Rica, and a 13-story Holiday Inn Express in San Salvador. The 163-room Holiday Inn Escazú San José is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2010, while the 151-room Express is scheduled to open in the second half of 2011.
"We are proud to expand our presence in Central America, especially with the Agrisal Group, with which we have a strong relationship that began in 2006," said Álvaro Diago, IHG President for Latin America. "We are happy to announce these two new hotels and look forward with great anticipation to the five that will follow," he added.
