After buying the Hotel Das Cataratas in September 2007, in the vicinity of the Iguazu Falls, on the border between Brazil and Argentina, and closing it to carry out a series of repairs, the establishment is operating again, this time under the management of Orient-Express.The modifications were made with the intention of increasing the standards of style, design and service in the two-storey colonial building, which had been in operation since 1958.
It has 193 rooms, which have been decorated respecting the Portuguese style. 16 of them are the so-called Deluxe Falls Room, many of which have views over the falls, as well as the Tower Suite and the Cataratas Suite.
The hotel, which is surrounded by 1,850 kilometers of national park, declared in 1986 a Natural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, is the second of Orient-Express in Brazil, after the acquisition of the Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro in 1989.
