Panama's tourism development over the next 10 years will demand 32,000 new hotel rooms, so chains such as Hilton, Hotel Rui and Hayatt already have projects in the country. According to the Tourism Authority of Panama, in order to satisfy the tourist offer of the country that is experiencing an expansion of 5% per year, the hotel industry is investing about US $ 700 million, in addition to the ongoing projects that hope to create more than 6,500 new rooms.
Hilton plans to erect five hotels from 2010 to 2013, one of which could open in December of this year.
For its part, the Rui Hotel, which will also open before the end of the year, will have 34 floors, 645 rooms and an investment of US$2123 million. Hyatt Hotels & Resorts will invest US$50 million in the construction of two hotel complexes in Panama City.
