Central America. Costa Rica has accredited that, in each of its sustainable constructions, 20% of water and energy have been saved, thanks to the implementation of the tips detailed in the Sustainable Construction guide.
Different countries and regions have a variety of characteristics, such as distinctive climatic conditions, cultures and traditions, typology of buildings, economic and social priorities that determine the general approach of real estate development activity in general and the sustainable construction approach in particular. Costa Rica is a Central American leader in sustainable constructions, as stated at the ExpoRSE Fair, within the activities programmed in the national campaign called "Clean Your Footprint", on the occasion of the Sustainable Construction Week, held recently in September of this year.
Thanks to the Costa Rican Green Building Council, "Edge" has been developed, a voluntary certification that accredits sustainable constructions, with the quality seal of the IFC (International Finance Corporation integrated into the World Bank Group). Costa Rica has accredited that, in each of its sustainable constructions, 20% of water and energy have been saved, thanks to the implementation of the advice detailed in the Sustainable Construction guide, which is based on a development model that respects the environment. At this fair, the importance of sustainable buildings to protect natural resources, supporting national development, was emphasized.
For the World Green Building Council, a "green" or sustainable building is a building that, in its design, construction or operation, reduces or eliminates negative impacts and can generate positive impacts on our climate and natural environment.
