Latin America. Yale Locks & Hardare has expanded its Assure Lock line to offer compatibility with most smart platforms and with Amazon's Alexa and Apple's Siri voice control systems, in their keyless and keyless versions.
This range allows owners to choose a lock that suits specific needs, either a single lock controlled by a PIN, so it avoids the hassle of using keys, or a fully controlled smart lock through a smart home system that can be controlled remotely.
The Assure Lock line is a unique modular system that simplifies integration with a home automation system or alarm system. Each Assure Lock can be purchased as a separate block controlled by a PIN or with the Yale Network Module installed for smart home integration. Yale offers networking modules for Z-Wave, Zigbee, or HomeKit systems. The module connects inside half of the lock, and the owner can add or change it at any time.
Siri and Alexa support
The Yale iM1 network module provides Assure Lock with Apple HomeKit compatibility, allowing owners to lock or unlock their home using the Apple Home or Siri app on an iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch. With the Yale Secure app, users can check battery status, manage up to 25 PIN codes, customize lock settings, name them, and add a new one.
Siri voice support adds a new level of advantage to owners, allowing them to check the current status of the lock or open/close it with a simple voice command. For example, "Hey Siri, is my front door closed?" or "Hey Siri, close my front door." Apple HomeKit allows owners to create scenes that generate a sequence of actions based on an order or event.
The Assure Locks range with Z-Wave or Zigbee are compatible with Amazon Alexa when used in conjunction with a smart home hub. Owners who opt for a Samsung SmartThings hub can choose either a Z-Wave or Zigbee lock for Alexa compatibility. Amazon Echo Plus users simply add Zigbee Assure Lock when the Echo Plus is a hub in itself
Voice control capability with Alexa allows Yale Z-Wave or Zigbee users to close their doors and check the current status of their locks. Voice commands such as "Alexa, close my front door" or "Alexa, is my back door closed?" will automatically trigger Amazon Alexa responses and/or actions.
