Specialization and professionalization, Eulen's commitment

International. The president of Eulen, María José Álvarez, has opted for the need to bet on specialization and professionalization to promote the evolution of the services sector.

"We sell confidence to our customers in the provision of services, because the customer wants solutions more than services. Therefore, I do not believe in revolution, but in evolution. If we do not evolve, we are left out of the market, "said María José Álvarez, during her presentation at the breakfasts of the Spanish Confederation of Directors (CEDE).

Álvarez recalled that the Eulen Group has more than 90,000 employees, 68 different product lines and is currently present in 14 countries, thanks to its firm commitment to specialization and professionalization.

However, the president of Eulen has regretted that, with the crisis, the client focused mainly on the price when hiring a service, causing a deterioration in the sector and the disappearance of many companies in the sector.

Regarding digitalization, Álvarez has insisted that his group "is not alien" to this process, but considers that "it does not influence job creation at all", while he has assured that machines cannot yet provide many of the services offered by people.

Álvarez has insisted on professionalism as a hallmark of his company and on the importance of the permanent training of its workers, while recalling the creation of a specific chair to train in the provision of services.

The president of Eulen has pointed out that the sector, which needs a change, has an "excessive regulation". "In Eulen we handle more than 300 different agreements and that creates a legal uncertainty," he said.

The group is mainly committed to "human capital" and equality among its workers, since 52% of its employees are women. "There are no rules because I have never considered it appropriate because there is no discrimination between men and women. Everyone has the same opportunity for promotion and work," he said.

Asked if she believes in family protocols in companies like hers, María José Álvarez was emphatic: "Yes, I believe in protocols, but as long as everyone believes in it, that if what has happened in my family does not happen."
