Latin America. Different organizations have developed strategies to achieve significant changes that reduce the labor inequality that occurs between men and women.
Proposing a global and national tactic focused on this problem is not an easy task, but Schneider Electric has worked to implement this work, which has allowed it to be awarded on several occasions.
On this occasion, the PAR community – a network of companies that promotes gender equality in organizations – recognized Schneider Electric for the strategies that promote labor equity between men and women within the organization, naming it as the most equitable company in the energy sector.
In this regard, Adriana Pulido, Vice President of Human Resources in the Andean Cluster of Schneider Electric, commented: "PAR does a job to measure, audit and recognize high standards in the execution of activities that increase gender equity in the workplace. This recognition is achieved by the work that has been developed for a long time. Last year we were also in the ranking and ranked number 11 among about 167 companies. We continue to take steps to be a role model."
Pulido added that the Company has implemented different actions that seek to amplify this echo in society, with satisfactory results. One of them is the increase of women in the management positions of the Andean Cluster, currently they add up to 27.8%, also, within the management committee women have a participation of 33.3%, which is very significant for a high-ranking executive level.
Pay equity is another field where progress has been made. We implemented since last year the "Pay Equity" payment for equity, today we can say that men and women have an equal payment in 87% of the global population. In line with this, in personnel selection processes we have a rule; for every triplet that is chosen as an alternative, there must be at least one woman aspiring to the position," he added.
In the organization the empowerment of women is a task that has not been left to chance, that is why the 'Women at Work' program was created where their job growth is worked from the base of the pyramid to go scaling it thanks to its good performance. In the case of the Andean Cluster there are 56 women participating in the process, likewise, we developed a local program called "Mentoring & Coaching" through which a sub-chapter is the Mentoring to Women in which today 10 women from different areas of the company participate. Schneider Electric is also part of initiatives such as #HeForShe of the UN, we are one of the 7 companies in the country subscribers of WEP "Women Empowerment principal" and Pride Connection.
At a global level, the organization manages a value proposition for employees and clients, being one of the fundamental values, respect for the difference "Diversity & Inclusion" is the name of the value, with which it seeks to strengthen the culture of diversity and inclusion, through a strategy that tends to work on three outstanding fronts: gender, multiculturalism and generations.
