Shared offices reduce rental costs by up to 30%

Peru. Under a new model of workspace called 'coworking' a monthly payment is made and services such as maintenance, electricity and internet are included.

Renting an office in Lima has a high cost, so it implies a significant expense for those looking to start their own business. However, renting shared workspaces called 'coworking' can reduce these costs between 25% and 30%, according to Selene Reque, general manager of Jobs Cowork.

Reque indicated that this new concept arrived in the country six years ago, but in the last two years it has had a greater momentum, due to the requirement of the same needs of users.

"Many sometimes do not dare to form a company, so they have to rent an office and for all the costs that this generates. Coworking is committed to flexible work spaces where you can count on all the services (water and electricity) and you can take them or not depending on the circumstances, "explained the executive to Diario Éxito.

He added that due to the principle of flexibility of this new office model, the rental time is at least one month, and if the entrepreneur no longer requires these shared spaces, he can stop making use of them, after canceling the contract.

He also said that the rent of a coworking varies from a minimum of USD 180, which at the current exchange rate is equivalent to S / 600 on average. In addition, costs of services such as maintenance, electricity, internet and receptionist are included.

As for the profile of users who have been opting for coworking, there are entrepreneurs who start a Star up, freelance (independent worker)  as well as companies that are located outside Lima and that seek that their workers in the administrative area can be closer to home.

"A lot has to do with the creative areas, the marketing departments, I have even seen cases of commercial areas that have also gone to opt for a coworking space," said Renzo Ronceros, facility manager of Jobs Cowork. To this are added the entrepreneurs who have an internet portal or are dedicated to design.
