Energy-efficient technology gains presence in Peru

Peru. Cusco has been advancing a sustained replacement of discharge luminaires by LED technology, positioning itself as one of the departments that advances the fastest in this area in Peru.

The main benefits are to have better lighting, generate energy savings close to 50% compared to previous technologies and increase the perception of safety among the population, also taking care of the environment.

The most recent projects in this area, which have just been put into operation a few days ago, by mandate of the Provincial Municipality of Cusco, were carried out on Grau Avenue, where 35 Valentino model luminaires of 39 watts and 36 Avento of 108 watts were installed; and in Nueva Alta and Apumirac streets, where 22 Valentino luminaires of 75 watts and 28 Avento of 71 watts were installed.

All these luminaires were provided by the Belgian multinational Schréder, which has carried out similar works in Paris, Rios de Janeiro, the Roman Colosseum and the Vatican, among other world-renowned locations.

The Inca Trail in Cusco also joined these projects, being installed luminaires at the beginning of this road network and in the Tica Tica Arch, merging the historical past with the technological future, in a work that highlights the architectural beauty of this road at night.

Finally, the National University San Antonio Abad of Cusco carried out a complete project of replacement of exterior lighting in its internal accesses, pedestrian, sports fields, parks and main façade, adding to this trend.

It should be noted that all these luminaires have recyclable materials with high international quality standards, since they are made of injected aluminum, and allow better lighting levels. Its design offers a high level of protection against corrosion, impacts and vibrations. They are highly resistant and do not need maintenance. Likewise, they work optimally for 100 thousand hours, time in which they only present a depreciation of the light flow of 10%. In addition, they generate energy savings of 50% (on average), compared to HID technology.
