Digital co-ownership management would reduce stationery consumption by 45%

Colombia. According to calculations by the Ministry of Housing, based on information from Galería Inmobiliaria, in 2021 about 227,600 new homes were marketed in Colombia, which is the best year in the history of the country in this matter. This, without forgetting that in 2020 a record had also been set with around 177,000 new units marketed.

This dynamic, which is highly favorable for economic reactivation and from which different productive chains emerge, poses a new challenge in terms of coexistence, environmental impact and household spending when acquiring a residential unit and living in co-properties.

In that sense, the Colombian platform, Hipal, developed a study in which 16 of the 50 stationery implements that present the most rotation in a traditional administration were analyzed, and carried out a simulation for a period of one year in order to observe what type of variation could be generated in consumption and savings between a residential complex of 100 housing units that implement technology for administration and one that does not.

"For this first analysis, we only contemplate products of recurrent purchase, that is: reams of paper, minute books, tapes, folders, sewing machines, manila envelopes, highlighters and pens, among others; that, due to their functionality, need to be permanently renewed," said Daniel Puentes, CEO and founder of the venture.

The study found that applying digital developments to co-ownership management results in a decrease of up to 45% in the consumption of frequently used stationery during the first year, which can be sustainable over time, as the use of such innovations takes hold.

"Likewise, by consolidating and comparing the prices that the 16 selected references had in 2021 with those that are currently available, it was possible to establish that the costs in stationery have increased on average by 26%, which means that administrators, by introducing the technology, can not only save about half of the expense in stationery, but, in turn, they do not have to pay the increases associated with the inflation of that expense, "says the company.
