JW Marriott and CasaMagna Cancun have launched an initiative in which it is contemplated to give healthy alternatives to their guests, by offering menus free of trans fatty acids in the dishes served in their restaurants. Now, guests can be sure that the dishes that are prepared in both resorts, will have the same taste, quality, and freshness as always, thanks to the fact that in the preparation of food, there is a strict vigilance in the process to provide a healthier option for their diet.Recent medical studies have revealed that the intake of this type of fat not only increases the levels of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) in the blood but also decreases high-density lipoproteins (HDL which is called good cholesterol), causing an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
Trans fatty acids or trans fats are a type of fat found primarily in industrialized foods that have undergone hydrogenation such as margarine or baking such as cakes.
Unlike other fats, most trans fatty acids are formed when liquid oils are converted into solid fats such as in frying and solid margarine.
However, there are small amounts of trans fatty acids naturally in some foods, especially of animal origin.
