Sol Meliá Hotels & Resorts has signed a contract to manage the Jacumã Beach Resort hotel in Rio Grande do Norte. The project, by the Spanish developer Paraísos do Brasil, will be built on the beach of Jacumã, municipality of Ceará Mirim, 35 km from the center of the city of Natal. With this resort, the Spanish chain strengthens its presence in the resort sector, in addition to already being strong in the corporate tourism segment in Brazil.
The investment is estimated at R$200 million and should be delivered in 36 months; it will occupy an area of about 156 thousand m² with a beach area of 200 meters, five mixed-use condominiums, a hotel and four residences with services, for a total of 821 residential units, between apartments and cabins, with areas of 45 to 114 m², equipped with accessories for rest and own swimming pools. Another move by Sol Meliá to grow in this segment has been the acquisition of five million m2, on the beach of Guarajuba, North of Salvador, with its own resources, in which the construction of the first phase of a tourist and real estate complex that will open in 2009 will begin.
