Some hotel chains such as Sol Meliá and hotels such as Boca de Iguanas are appointing specialized professionals as sustainability managers. The company Sol Meliá has appointed Esther Trujillo as Vice President of the Sustainable Development area, a position from which she will lead the Mallorcan hotel company's strategy in this area. Esther Trujillo is a Bilingual Translator and Diploma in Public Relations, after which she also completed specialization studies in Corporate Responsibility at Harvard Business School and ESADE-Stanford.For its part, Boca de Iguanas, the new ecological project in the Costalegre, puts at the head of Mother Nature a dedicated sustainability manager responsible for ecological programs that reflect the project's commitment to the environment. Lorena Vargas is a graduate of the University of Guadalajara with a specialty in environmental biotechnology and also through her blood runs the passion of ecological sustainability. His father, José Roberto Vargas, planted the first organic production in Rancho Petacal, Jalisco 18 years ago. Part of Lorena's work includes introducing unique touches of nature to hotel rooms, restaurant and homes, establishing a composting program, overseeing the cultivation of organic plants and herbs, monitoring the mangrove ecosystem that passes through the property, and reintroducing flora native to the area.
