With the general claim that hotels, including five-star properties, that impose additional charges on their guests for internet access or that do not offer audiovisual access for portable devices, such as iPods and MP3 players could lose market, the congress of The Hotel Show Seven Star conference was held, at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre, United Arab Emirates.
For participants, envisioning the future and preparing now for the needs of the most technology-demanding guests is one of the challenges of the industry in 2008. Convergence and the need for hotels to 'connect' to fit the technology their guests handle was the subject of several presentations. So far, hotels have been reluctant to invest in technology upgrades, but that needs to change. Thus, the adoption of these technologies by hotel owners and operators will be a competitive advantage, said those attending The Hotel Show, organized by dmg media in Dubai.
