A total of 81 tourism investment projects were approved by the authorities of the Dominican Republic in the last eight months, at a cost of US$15.3 billion, of which 75% is in execution. According to statements published by the Caribbean News portal, the minister of the sector, Francisco Javier García Fernández, explained that 40% of that investment is Spanish, 26% is from the Dominican Republic and 24% comes from the United States.
García Fernández mentioned another project that was approved, which will be carried out in Montecristi and will have 36 million m2, an all-inclusive hotel, nine beachfront hotels and thirteen with casinos included.
