InterContinental Hotels Group reported a 38% reduction in operating profit, $179 million, for the first half of 2009, data that makes it predict that its recovery could occur within two years.According to information from the hotel group, which operates about 630,000 rooms in more than 4,300 hotels around the world, although its profits are at 174 million dollars, they managed to exceed the prediction of 162 million dollars in a survey among eight analysts conducted by Reuters.
IHG explained that the crisis has reduced the budget of its customers' trips, and pointed out that the data on demand for future reservations do not show a greater deterioration, moreover, July was a good month, as it presented a greater demand for tourists.
