Between January 18 and 20, 2010, the International Hotel and Restaurant Association, IH&RA (for its acronym in English) will hold its annual congress in Belgrade, Serbia.The 47th edition of this event, which this year is part of the concept "Redefining excellence in hospitality", seeks to show an overview of the future of the industry, as well as the opportunities for growth and development.
On this occasion, the leaders, representatives of 200,000 hotels and 6 million restaurants, will exchange ideas about this year's themes such as: climate change and hospitality, natural disasters and industry, international standards for hotels and restaurants, child exploitation in tourism, among others. The ceremony to honor the Emeraude Hoteliers will also be held.
This recognition is given to hotels that successfully implement the stipulated guidelines to increase sustainable tourism. Certification is based on a three-level scale. Depending on the number of criteria the hotel meets, it will be awarded one, two or three Emeraudes.
On the other hand, Ghassan AIDI, president of IH&RA, was named as an honorary citizen of Bulgaria, where he spent ten days attending various meetings and conferences with the nation's hoteliers.
