The La Bobadilla hotel complex in Andalusia, Spain, implemented in 2008 an initiative that has allowed it to reduce its CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by 80%. It is about the transformation of the olive bone into energy. This initiative started from a group of scientists who were dedicated to research on how to convert olive waste into energy. The bone of the fruit of the olive tree is an energy source with enormous potential due to the great agricultural production that exists of it in Spain.
With the implementation of this practice, La Bobadilla will be able to save €500,000 over 10 years, since the energy produced with olive waste is 60% cheaper than diesel.
