In the main 15 tourist regions of Colombia, hotel occupancy grew by 13% due to the holiday season of late 2009 and early 2010.The Hotel Association of Colombia, Cotelco, presented a report in which it indicates that the average occupancy from December 24, 2009 to January 11, 2010 was higher than that of the same period of 2008, registering an increase of 65% national average, compared to 52% in the holiday season of the previous year.
The highest occupancy was obtained by San Andrés with 100% in the festivities of the Magi in 2010. Cartagena reached a 76% occupancy, mostly of foreign tourists, and in Santa Marta the holiday season obtained an average of 82% and 95% in the bridge of Kings.
In some regions the festivities made the occupation increase as in Cali for its Cali Fair, where the occupation grew by 20 points compared to the previous year, in Manizales it was 88% and in the carnivals of Blancos y Negros, in Pasto, the occupation rose 34%. Also in the Coffee Axis increased the entrance to the theme parks by 5%.
