Two of the companies of the Synergy Group, owner of airlines such as Avianca and Taca, will buy three hotels from the Promotora de Hoteles Medellín in an operation of more than US $ 28 million, which will close in January 2011 and will have great benefits for travelers, since the Group's airlines will offer them integrated packages with ticket and accommodation.The Intercontinental and Las Lomas hotels in Medellín, and the Hotel de Pereira will pass into the hands of New Continents Hotels Inc and The Flagship Hotels Inc, adding 645 rooms, 450 direct jobs and some indirect jobs in special events.
The manager of Promotora, Marco Antonio Arango, explained that this sale comes as a move announced by the Colombian Investment Company -Colinversiones-, which since the end of 2007 is reorganizing its business portfolio to focus on power generation.
For his part, Juan Guillermo Londoño Posada, president of Colinversiones revealed that before accepting the offer, offers from different interested parties in Latin America were studied, leaning towards the most attractive offer of the company that met certain special conditions derived from one of the main activities of the Sinergy Group, such as air passenger transport.
