Hotels.com announced this morning the integration of hotel reviews from TripAdvisor users on the 31 local sites currently available to Hotels.com in EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). This decision is part of the philosophy of the company, with which it tries to get closer to the consumer and help him make the best decision in his travels.
A study conducted by the consultancy Compete Inc. shows that two-thirds of Internet users consult the content generated by TripAdvisor users before choosing their hotel.
"Part of the differentiating character of our company philosophy is the interest in adapting to the preferences of our customers, finding the perfect hotels for them," says Alison Couper, Head of Communication at Hotels.com EMEA. "By integrating TripAdvisor user reviews, we'll be able to keep customers Hotels.com up to date with relevant hotel information so they can get a sense of what hotels are really like."
Users of Hotels.com websites in EMEA will be able to view the "Travellers' Score" for each hotel, as well as access the latest English reviews about that property. In addition, in the case of local sites in Spain, France, Italy and Germany, they will have reviews available in their own languages.
Couper explains the importance of this novelty in the following terms: "We are delighted to be able to incorporate more user-generated content into our website. Consumer reviews are an invaluable source of information about hotels and their features and enable customers to ensure they are making the right decision after being properly informed." Couper continues his review: "Thanks to the reviews of TripAdvisor and the new Visualiser, choosing the right hotel is made even easier, as well as fun."
TripAdvisor collects more than 20 million travel reviews and opinions from travelers around the world. TripAdvisor websites alone constitute the world's largest online travel community, reaching more than 25 million unique visitors per month and exceeding 9 million registered users. TripAdvisor's Senior Director of Brand Distribution, Nathan Clapton, welcomes this improvement for hotel booking portal customers: "Users of Hotels.com will benefit greatly from having this advanced resource at the touch of a button."
