Around 10,000 rooms will open Panama in the next two years, confident of the highest growth in tourism in history, recorded in 2010. According to the Minister of Tourism of this country, Salomin Shamah Zuchin: "We increased visitor arrivals by 12%, reaching 1.7 million tourists, who also left their quota spending 14% more than in 2009."
The Central American country removed the global economic crisis reaching a GDP growth of 6.3%. "Panama is already a global business and investment hub. We have the second largest free zone in the world, in addition, we are the eighth most important air hub in the world in relation to GDP and we aspire to be a great global event center," the official added.
In the next two years, Panama will increase its number of rooms and according to Shaman, "this situation is due to the fact that chains such as Riu, NH or Sol Meliá, are already present, because we have the best incentive law in America: zero land taxes, zero income taxes and zero import taxes for the first 15 years."
